Kennewick PD investigating unfounded weapons complaint that locked down some schools

KENNEWICK, Wash.-Some Kennewick schools were placed under modified lockdowns on Aug. 30 due to a weapons complaint in East Kennewick.

Kennewick Police responded to what turned out to be an unfounded weapons complaint in the area of East 10th Avenue and Gum Street around 11:13 a.m., according to the KPD.

Nearby schools were placed under modified lockdowns as the complaint was investigated.

According to the KPD, a false reporting investigation is now being conducted after the incident.
