Kennewick man dead after head-on crash near Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash.-A Kennewick man is dead after a head-on crash west of Walla Walla on June 13.

Washington State Patrol Troopers responded to the crash on US 12 at milepost 314 around 4:53 p.m.

According to the WSP, 25-year-old Daniel Zarate of Kennewick was westbound about 19 miles west of Walla Walla when he left the roadway, overcorrected and hit an eastbound pickup truck head-on.

Zarate died at the scene, his next-of-kin has been notified of his death.

The driver of the truck, a 37-year-old Burbank man was transported to Kadlec Medical Center after the crash.

The official cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the WSP.
