Kennewick Irrigation District implements mandatory watering schedule

KENNEWICK, Wash.-The Kennewick Irrigation District is implementing a mandatory watering schedule for customers due to ongoing drought conditions.

Starting July 7, the mandatory schedule is expected to last at least through July, according to the KID.

The KID implemented a voluntary watering schedule in May to try and conserve water, however, worsening drought conditions now make the mandatory schedule necessary.

According to KID, the mandatory schedule with watering times spread throughout the day will maintain pressure in the district’s canals and ensure water access for all KID customers.

The mandatory watering schedule is based on the last digit of KID customer’s addresses and allows for watering 20 minutes per zone three times a week.

KID mandatory watering schedule:

Sunday: Morning (1,5), Evening (0,4)

Monday: Morning (3,7,8), Evening (6,9)

Tuesday: Morning (1,5), Evening (0,2)

Wednesday: Morning (3,7), Evening (4,6,9)

Thursday: Morning (5,8), Evening (0,2)

Friday: Morning (1,3), Evening (4,6)

Saturday: Morning (7,8), Evening (2,9)
