KENNEWICK, Wash. – Officers arrested a 49-year-old assault suspect Friday afternoon at the Southridge Sports Complex, according to the Kennewick Police Department.
NonStop Local typically does not name suspects until they are formally charged.
KPD says at around 1:13 p.m., officers were sent to the Southridge Sports Complex for a report that a man had attacked someone else in the area.
Police found the man, who reportedly showed signs of drug use. Upon being placed into custody, the man allegedly bit an officer’s shoe and would not let go until the officer broke free.
The bite led to officers using a WRAP device to control the man, then brought him to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The 49-year-old is facing charges of both third and fourth degree assault along with resisting arrest, per KPD.
