RICHLAND, Wash.-Kadlec kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its annual flag raising and a lighting ceremony on October 2.
The outside of the Kadlec Tri-Cities Cancer Center at 7360 W. Deschutes Ave. in Kennewick was lit in pink to highlight breast cancer awareness during the month of October.
Kadlec also raised a commemorative breast cancer awareness flag above the parking garage of its Richland Campus at 888 Swift Blvd.
The breast cancer awareness flag has been raised for over 20 years at Kadlec in honor of survivors and in remembrance of those who have died of breast cancer.
According to Kadlec the flag also serves as a reminder of the importance of mammography and early detection in the fight against cancer.
This year the specially made flag was crafted by Sue Cornell, a member of the Kadlec Auxiliary.
