Kadlec launches trauma support program for injury recovery

TRI-CITIES, Wash. – Kadlec is introducing a new program aimed at supporting patients with traumatic injuries after they leave the hospital.

The Trauma Support Program offers six months of advocacy and care coordination tailored to each patient’s needs.

The hospital states that the program focuses on patients recovering from injuries such as car accidents, gunshots and falls. It is designed to assist those identified by specific risk factors, including being low-income, under or uninsured or facing language barriers.

“We know that after a traumatic injury there is an increased risk for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, substance use and other issues,” said RoseAnne Droesch of Trauma-Informed Care Consulting. “When you add therapeutic support and case management after an injury, it makes a big difference. It creates a different trajectory of healing.”

There can be up to 40 patients participating in the program at any given time as new patients enter and others graduate.

“The program’s success is a testament to Kadlec’s commitment to addressing health inequities and providing comprehensive trauma care to the community,” said Manager of Care Management with Population Health at Kadlec Laura Follett.
