RICHLAND, Wash.-SEIU Healthcare plans to hold informational pickets and a rally on Tuesday, May 28.
SEIU Healthcare represents over 1,100 service and technical healthcare workers at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland and at Kadlec’s freestanding Emergency Room in Kennewick.
The contract for Kadlec’s service and technical workers expired in December of 2023 and SEIU has been negotiating since January, with union members recently voting to make their contract demands public after two contract extensions and multiple bargaining sessions, according to the union’s website.
SEIU is calling on Providence executives to pay workers at Kadlec the same wages the organization pays employees at other locations, including Swedish Medical Center, according to a press release on the pickets.
According to SEIU, quality care is being compromised due to rapid staff turnover as a result of the lack of competitive wages.
