WEST RICHLAND, Wash. – Two juveniles were arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly stealing a car from a driveway along with valuable items from another car in West Richland.

The West Richland Police Department says officers were called to a home at around 7 a.m. for a report of a stolen car.

A Ring doorbell camera spotted the man in the act, showing that he also allegedly broke into an adjacent car and took valuables out prior to stealing the original car.

An hour after the call, the victim of the theft called again reporting that their car had returned to their home. Officers arrived and found the stolen car driving towards them, which ended up ramming into an officer.

A short chase then ensued where the driver ran away and was eventually detained. Two passengers riding along in the car were also detained.

WRPD says the driver was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center for assault and eluding while one of the passengers was booked for motor vehicle theft, vehicle prowl, theft and a local warrant. The other passenger was released as they were reportedly not involved.

All stolen items were returned and the officer involved in the crash is not injured, per WRPD.
