SUNNYSIDE, Wash. – Sierra Vista Middle School went into lockdown Wednesday afternoon due to an “irate parent,” according to Sergeant Tucker with the Sunnyside Police Department.
The lockdown started at 12:21 p.m. according to the Sunnyside School District. Police arrived at around 12:30 p.m. in response to a call about an upset parent, which is when the school transitioned to “Secure and Teach.”
After speaking with the upset parent, Sgt. Tucker says SPD booked them into jail. SSD says the school returned to normal operations at 12:41 p.m.
Another school in Yakima County, White Swan High School, also went into lockdown earlier today, involving a person pointing a rifle at a deputy from the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.
