YAKIMA, Wash.-An international Delta flight from London to Seattle was safely diverted to the Yakima Airport due to weather on Dec. 20.
According to a social media post from Yakima Police, the plane carrying 166 passengers and 13 crew members landed safely shortly after 8 p.m.
The Yakima Airport does not have Customs or Immigration Officers, though, so the passengers were going to have to stay on the plane or in the terminal.
Yakima Police, local Homeland Security Agents, airport staff and ultimately eight customs agents and a K-9 unit responded to the airport to process the passengers and allow them to disembark, according to the YPD.
After staying overnight in Yakima, Delta sent a plane to ferry the passengers to Seattle on Dec. 21
