YAKIMA, Wash.-The Yakima City Council unanimously approved a contract with a consulting firm to name an Interim City Manager at a special meeting on Monday, Jan. 23.
The City Council approved a contract with GMP Consultants at the meeting. Under the contract GMP assigned Dave Zabell as Yakima’s interim city manager, according to a City of Yakima press release.
Zabell joined GMP after retiring as Pasco City Manager in 2022. According to the City of Yakima he has several years of management experience, including as Fife City Manager, Yakima Assistant City Manager, Bothell Public Works Director and Marysville City Administrator.
The Yakima City Council voted 5-2 to remove Bob Harrison from his role as city manager effective Feb. 2 at its first meeting of the year.
The City of Yakima will pay GMP $140 per hour for interim City Manager services, according to a press release on Zabell’s assignment.
