Incredible pictures show the Red Arrows performing a flypast of Niagara Falls on Wednesday (11 Sep).
Nine jets from the UK’s Royal Air Force aerobatic team soared over the picturesque location in Ontario, Canada.
The gleaming Hawk jets made several passes over the landmark. On their first approach, they trailed a classic Avro Lancaster bomber – one of only two still flying in the world and based in Canada.
For this pass, the Red Arrows’ jets were arranged in a shape resembling the distinctive outline of the Second World War bomber.
The RAF’s display team was originally meant to perform late August, however, conditions were deemed unsuitable and they were given the go-ahead this week.
The event is part of a five-week tour of the country – dubbed Maple Hawk – by the Red Arrows to help mark the centennial of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).
As well as the RCAF anniversary, the Red Arrows are marking their own milestone, with 2024 being the team’s 60th diamond display season.
The flypast over Niagara Falls comes before the team are due to perform at Airshow London, Ontario, this weekend.
The Falls are a group of three waterfalls at the southern end of Niagara Gorge, spanning the border between Ontario in Canada and the state of New York.
