YAKIMA, Wash.-New details are emerging in the in-custody death of an inmate at the Yakima County Jail on Nov. 24.
Hien Trung Hua reportedly suffered a medical emergency during a confrontation with Correctional Staff.
Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice determined the manner of Hua’s death to be accidental as the result of Cardiac Dysrhythmia secondary to Atherosclerotic Cadiovascular Disease and his death is now being investigated by the Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit.
According to the YVSIU, Hua was in a large housing unit within the jail for movement to another housing area when he became combative with officers and was placed in handcuffs.
As Hua was transported he reportedly became unresponsive and officers began providing emergency medical assistance.
Once the YVSIU investigation is complete the case will be presented to the Yakima County Prosecutor, according to a press release on the investigation.
