YAKIMA, Wash.-An in-custody death at the Yakima County Jail is being investigated by the Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit.
The YVSIU was notified of the death of an adult male at the jail on the morning of Friday, Nov. 24.
According to a press release from the YVSIU, the male suffered a medical emergency while in contact with a Corrections Officer at the jail. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the circumstances of the death are now under investigation.
The family of the man who died has been notified, however, his name will not be released until an autopsy is performed by the Yakima County Coroner’s Office.
