I-82 reopened between Ellensburg and Yakima following Ten Dollar Springs Fire

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – UPDATE 4:21 p.m.

WSDOT reports that I-82 has been reopened in both directions.

UPDATE 3:47 p.m.

Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Communication Manager Ryan Rodruck says the Ten Dollar Springs Fire is burning two to four acres.

Rodruck says the fire started at around 1:05 p.m. and is burning near Exit 11 on I-82.

The Bureau of Land Management is reportedly handling the fire.

UPDATE 2:55 p.m.

In an update from the Washington State Department of Transportation, the right lane of eastbound I-82 has been reopened.

Both directions of I-82 are currently closed between Ellensburg and Yakima due to a fire.

Eastbound lanes are closed at Thrall Road near exit 3 due to the brush fire and westbound traffic is stopped at Firing Center Road at exit 26, according to the Department of Transportation.

A detour is in place via SR 821 through the Yakima River Canyon.

There is currently no estimated time for when the road will be reopened.
