Hydroplane spring testing set for May 31 in Columbia Park

KENNEWICK, Wash.-The Apollo Columbia Cup is the last weekend in July, but hydroplane fans in the Tri-Cities won’t have to wait that long for a boat racing fix.

The Water Follies Spring Splash testing session is Friday, May 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Columbia Park.

The testing session will be broadcast live on SWX.

Sponsored by Apollo Mechanical and the Columbia Park Golf Tri-Plex, the all-day event will feature food vendors, a beer garden, live music from Voodoo Alley and plenty of boats taking to the water in preparation for the 2024 H1 Unlimited season.

The event is free, although up close parking will cost $5 (farther away parking will be free), according to the Water Follies.
