PLYMOUTH, Wash. – According to a post from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, human remains were discovered in the Columbia River near Plymouth, WA in the morning of February 10.
According to BCSO Patrol Lieutenant Jason Erickson, two fishermen located the remains and called 9-1-1.
The body was successfully recovered by BCSO deputies, Benton County Fire and the Dive Rescue team.
According to the post, detectives were able to identify the human remains as Chance Townsend who had been missing from the Plymouth area since December 2023.
According to Patrol Lieutenant Erickson, foul play is not expected to be involved.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Benton County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
