How Benton City Celebrates The Fourth Of July

BENTON CITY, Wash. — A long line of children, adults and pets walked down 9th street in Benton City today.

It was just one of many events hosted by Benton City’s chamber of commerce in celebration of the 4th of July. Dressed up in patriotic gear, children biked, scootered, and strolled down the main road, waving to onlookers who had been waiting there some fifteen minutes earlier.

Shara Morgan, the President of Benton County’s Chamber of Commerce, told us exactly how much she loved this little town.

“It’s amazing… this town is great. When I think of it, I think of family,” said Morgan.

Today, the town hosted multiple events, like a morning 5 K run, a free breakfast, the kids parade, a kickball tournament and a firework celebration. Morgan hopes that these community events may garner more people to the town, as they hold multiple unique celebrations throughout the year.

“I know Benton City seems so far away, but it’s just a hop, skip and jump from the Tri-Cities,” says Morgan.

The organizers awarded prizes to multiple children for their costumes and rides, ending with popsicles and ice cream for everybody.
