House fire under control in Kennewick, crews to patrol area

KENNEWICK, Wash. – UPDATE 8:11 p.m.

According to KFD Deputy Fire Chief Michael Heffner, the fire is now under control after burning for 29 minutes.

The fire was called in at 5:30 p.m. with reports of flames on the backside of the building. The fire ended up melting out some windows of the building.

Heffner says crews fought the fire outside then moved inside where there were no occupants.

Crews will remain at the home for another hour and patrol the area to ensure it does not flare up again.

A home is burning in the area of South Everett Place and South Fruitland Street in Kennewick, according to the Kennewick Police Department.

KPD asks for the public to avoid the area and to not block roadways for emergency vehicles to work.

All nearby roadways are reportedly blocked until further notice.
