Hanford High School shed catches fire twice over the weekend

RICHLAND, Wash. – An outbuilding at Hanford High School caught fire early Saturday morning before reigniting Sunday afternoon.

Richland Fire Battalion Chief, Brenda Rogers, said the day’s heat most likely re-kindled the shed. Rogers said crews were scheduled to be checking on the fire periodically but arrived late on Sunday due to the Ironman Race.

In a Facebook post, the Richland School District said today’s fire caused the roof to collapse and firefighters focused on extinguishing the inside of the destroyed building.

The district barricaded the shed off for public safety and investigations into the cause of the fire will begin tomorrow.
