RICHLAND, Wash. – Hanford High School broadcasting teacher Cheyenne LaViolette received the Teacher of the Year Award at the 2024 All-American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF) in New York City.

The award, given to LaViolette from the world’s largest student film festival, recognizes her dedication to providing meaningful learning experiences for students.

AAHSFF selected LaViolette for her “inspiring commitment to elevating educational standards in the film and broadcast realm,” per a press release from the Richland School District.

“Cheyenne LaViolette is a truly amazing candidate for this national recognition whose outstanding contributions to education extend well beyond the confines of her classroom,” said AAHSFF co-founder Andrew Jenks. “She consistently seeks out meaningful, experiential opportunities, enthusiastically investing in the professional development and dedicating her time and expertise to assist and elevate their fellow educators.”

RSD says LaViolette brings transformative experiences for students to help them get real-world exposure and skills in media production. She encourages students to take creative risks and empowers them to use their talents on platforms as big as the AAHSFF.
