A couple has transformed their home into the “UK’s scariest Halloween house”—so terrifying that children are banned from entering.

Elliot Smith and his partner Tasha Quick have decked out their end of terrace in Stafford with ghoulish decorations, ghosts and haunted mazes.

The Halloween-obsessed couple spent three weeks turning the family home into an abandoned haunted house complete with a witch’s cave and pet cemetery.

They are daring thrill-seekers to enter their home on Halloween but the horror maze is too scary for children and is over-18s only.

Elliot and Tasha have recruited actors to give people a fright by leaping out at them.

Dad-of-three Elliot, 32, said: “We trialed the maze with some friend’s kids but they came out too terrified so we had to make it adults only.

“Instead we’ve added a mini-maze for children which has animatronics.

“Our main maze has actors who dress up and we scare people in there. People love it but they don’t realize how scary how it is.

“It’s what Halloween is all about, it can be a little bit scary. Until they build their confidence, it can be scary.

“At the front of the house we’ve gone for a haunted house theme, we’ve got a projection in the top window with ghosts that are ladies and men, not white sheets.

“We’ve got a man who takes his head off.

“We’ve got a pet cemetery with different types of ghosts.

“At the side of the house we’ve got the witch’s cabin, there’s three witches in there. They do all their spells and fly their brooms.

“Down the side of the house we’ve carried on the abandoned house theme.

“In the garden we’ve got the pumpkin patch, where we have three pumpkins that tell jokes and songs.”

Elliot, a building maintenance worker, spent hours in the evenings and at weekends converting the family’s home into the perfect horror house.

He added: “At the right hand side we’ve got the mini-maze. It has some flashing lights and spooky music. We’ve got animatronics that jump out.

“Across the back entrance to the garden will be the main maze with the actors, who are mainly family members.

“The witches cabin looks really good, we’ve got spell bottles on the side. The books with spells. The brooms, it’s really effective.”

The couple are raising money for local charity Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance by asking people for donations.
