WALLA WALLA, Wash. – A Safeway in Walla Walla was evacuated Monday afternoon due to an overheated HVAC system, according to WWFD Deputy Fire Chief Eric Wood.
Wood says shoppers and employees were evacuated just after 1 p.m. due to smoke in the store.
Firefighters responded and did not find a fire and identified the cause to be an overheated HVAC system on the roof of the building.
Wood says the issue with the HVAC system was solved by 1:15 p.m.
