GREAT FALLS, Mont. – While you’re getting supplies ready for the first day of school, you might want to make room for the Back To School Clinic.

The annual Back To School Clinic will be Wednesday, August 7, from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm in the Four Seasons Arena at the Montana ExpoPark.

Students can get their sports physical and caught up on immunizations needed for the school year through the clinic hosted by the Cascade City-County Health Department (CCHD),Great Falls Clinic Hospital, and Blue Cross Blue Shield Care Van (BCBS).

“Immunizations are very important to keep everybody healthy, whether it’s family, friends, coworkers, anything like that and yourself as well. It’s very important to keep yourself healthy,” said Stacey Vankuiken, LPN Public Health Nurse.

This year, all sports physicals and immunizations will be provided at no cost and if a family’s health insurance doesn’t cover the cost of any service, BCBS Care Van steps in to fully cover it.

You are asked to bring an insurance card, if you have one, and a photo ID. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

“We want all our kids to be healthy. This gives them the opportunity to get checked over. It does height, weight, vitals. Any concerns that any parents may have when they aren’t able to get into an appointment and it is easier even if you do have a primary care, you can get in without having to wait that two extra weeks or after school starts or anything of the sort. As far as immunizations go, once we get into school, those immunizations are pretty important because a lot of the little germs and such that go around with those close encounters,” said Van Kuiken.

If you are unable to attend the clinic, all immunizations are also available by appointment (406-454-6950) at the CCHD facility during normal business hours.
