YAKIMA, Wash.-Educational Service District 105 was awarded a $12,348,000 grant by the U.S. Department of Education.
The Department of Education selected ESD 105 for a Full-Service Community Schools Program grant on Nov. 28, the only organization in the state selected for the funding.
“This grant affirms our commitment to breaking the cycle of generational poverty by removing barriers and transforming lives,” said Kevin Chase, Superintendent of ESD 105.
The grant will be distributed over the next five years, according to ESD 105, and will address educational challenges and inequalities faced by historically underserved students and families in participating school districts.
Funding will be used to implement a program design based on the essential four pillars framework, targeting interventions to close achievement gaps, address learning losses, and enhance social-emotional well-being, according to the ESD.
