GRANDVIEW, Wash.-The City of Grandview is flushing its water system, which will require some wells to be turned on and off.
According to a post from the City of Grandview, one of the older wells in the City system has naturally occurring sulphur-dioxide.
Water from the well can give off an egg odor, however, it has been tested and is safe to drink and the odor should dissipate a few days after flushing is complete.
Residents should not be alarmed if their water has a slightly slimy feel after the flushing process. According to Grandview’s post, the slimy feel is from chlorine used to disinfect the drinking water and the inside coating of the piping.
Any residents with questions about the flushing process or concerns about the quality of drinking water in Grandview are asked to call the Public Works Department at 882-9211.
The Washington State Department of Health has tested Grandview’s water and it is within acceptable state drinking water standards and is safe for public consumption, according to the city.
