General deer season set to open in Washington

OLYMPIA, Wash.-Washington’s general deer season starts on Saturday, Oct. 12 and the Department of Fish and Wildlife is reminding hunters of their responsibility in keeping everyone safe.

According to the WDFW, it’s the responsibility of each hunter to hunt safely and ethically, but some tips can keep everyone safe.

Hunters should take hunter safety education courses and should be aware of laws, rules and regulations and should obey the law, the environment and wildlife.Hunters should dress appropriately for the weather and for safety. Washington State law requires hunters to wear hunter orange or hunter pink clothing.The WDFW tracks hunting incidents throughout the state in order to help prevent accidents in the future.
