FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. – A detached garage in Franklin County was destroyed in a fire Wednesday afternoon, according to Franklin County Fire District 3 Chief Mike Harris.
Harris says the fire was reported by a homeowner on the 4000 block of Melody Lane at 2:31 p.m. He reported smoke in his home’s detached garage.
Crews arrived to find a large fire in the garage. The fire was put out by 3 p.m. with help from the Pasco Fire Department and Walla Walla Fire District 5 who brought a water tender due to a lack of fire hydrants.
No one was injured in the fire which was contained to the garage, according to Harris.
Power and water were disconnected from the house for crews to safely put out the fire. The family of five at the home is being assisted by Red Cross due to the lack of power and water.
The cause of the fire is unknown and not under investigation by fire crews. Harris says the cause is nothing suspicious.
