PASCO, Wash. – Franklin County Commissioners and the Pasco City Council are planning to kick off the “HAPO Center Master Plan” and discuss the future of the HAPO Center, according to a press release.
The HAPO Center Master Plan will look at how both the County and the City will maximize the potential uses of the HAPO Center, along with how to utilize the surrounding 70 acres of the center, including the possibility of selling or leasing the nearby parcels.
“There’s a tremendous amount to think about when it comes to the HAPO Center,” said Franklin County Administrator Mike Gonzalez. “We believe it can be the best regional entertainment center in the Pacific Northwest. We are going to look at what can be built on the surrounding land that fits nicely with the HAPO Center plan. We’ll also look at what type of events we can attract and how we can maximize the use for the entire center.”
Planning efforts will be led by HAPO Center management partner Larry Leasure, which Gonzalez says has experience in economic development, construction and long range planning.
“We are excited that Larry Leasure will lead this project,” said Gonzalez. “He’s currently looking at consultants that can also help with the long range planning. We also want the public to weigh in on this effort.”
The upcoming meeting will go from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tue., June 4 at the HAPO Center. Attendees will have an opportunity to discuss the future of the center with commissioners, councilmembers and HWL, the HAPO Center’s current management team.
