Franklin County Administrator stepping down, second in as many years to leave position

PASCO, Wash.-Franklin County Administrator Mike Gonzalez is leaving his position.

Gonzalez’s decision was announced at a special County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday June 18 and comes during an ongoing criminal investigation into alleged misconduct by some Franklin County officials.

The County Commissioners held an executive session before returning to the meeting where Commissioner Stephen Bauman, said:

“I move to acknowledge the county administrator has approached the board about severing the administrator’s current employment contract.”

In a recording of the meeting Commissioner Bauman goes on to say that Gonzalez will be taking paid time off until an agreeable decision can be reached by both sides and that the Commissioners hope to have an agreement in place by their next meeting on June 25.
