Former world leaders to discuss political discourse amidst polarization in Tri-Cities

TRI-CITIES, Wash.-Two world leaders known for resolving conflict and confronting polarization in their countries will participate in a series of discussions on how global lessons can be used to address the current political polarization in America.

CivicGenius and the William D. Ruckelshaus Center are hosting former political adversaries and Anti-Apartheid negotiators Roelf Meyer and Mohammed Bhabha for a series of talks in Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane and the Tri-Cities the week of Oct. 15.

Meyer was the South African government’s chief representative in the 1993 negotiations to end apartheid, while Bhabha was part of the African National Congress team at the Convention for a Democratic South Africa, according to CivicGenius.

The invitation only discussions will include elected officials, community leaders and students.
