OLYMPIA, Wash.-A new approach to financial aid is being proposed by policymakers in the state to guarantee financial aid for students who qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
According to the Washington Student Achievement Council, the financial aid application process can be a barrier to accessing aid or even applying for higher education.
Under the new proposal, students who qualify for SNAP, known as Basic Food in Washington, would be guaranteed financial aid without requiring a financial aid application.
