Flags in Washington to fly at half-staff on Nov. 12 in honor of former Gov. Dan Evans

OLYMPIA, Wash.-Flags in Washington will fly at half-staff on Nov. 12 in honor of former Governor Dan Evans who died on Sept. 20.

“I am deeply saddened by the death of former Governor Daniel Evans, 98, and direct that Washington state and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 in honor and remembrance of former Governor Daniel Evans,” Governor Inslee said in a directive on Nov. 8.

As Governor of Washington Evans championed legislation that created the state community college system and worked to protect the environment, including promoting the bond that helped preserve land and added new recreation and park areas statewide, according to the National Governor’s Association.

A memorial service for Evans will be held at the University of Washington on Nov. 12 at 3 p.m.
