COLORADO.-The first lawsuit stemming from the E. Coli outbreak linked to quarter pounders at McDonald’s has been filed.
The first lawsuit was filed on behalf of Colorado resident Eric Stelly, according to NBC News reporting on the outbreak that has sickened 49 people and caused at least one death.
The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have determined that slivered onions served on the burgers is the likely cause of the contamination.
The raw onions were sourced from a single supplier, according to a statement from McDonald’s on Oct. 23 and health officials expect the number of cases to grow.
A second lawsuit against the burger giant was filed on behalf of a Nebraska resident on Oct 24, according to NBC News.
