FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. – Evacuations have been cleared for residents in the area of Fir Road, North Columbia River Road and Cottonwood Drive following at 200-acre wildfire.
A press release from Franklin County Fire District 3 says the fire is about 80 percent contained, while Franklin County Emergency Management Director Sean Davis says the fire is fully under control. The fire reportedly started at 12:09 p.m. and quickly spread to the northeast due to wind.
Franklin County Emergency Management is also asking people to avoid the area to allow room for responding fire trucks and crews. Fir Road is currently closed and power was shut off in the area due to power poles burning.
Crews from Benton County Fire Districts 1 and 2, Franklin County Fire Districts 1, 2, 3 and 4, Walla Walla County Fire District 5, Pasco Fire, Richland Fire and the Department of Natural Resources are on scene.
Level 2: Be Ready evacuations were in place temporarily for a few homes in the area.
