KENNEWICK, Wash.-Firefighters quickly knocked down a house fire in Kennewick on the night of Sept. 26.

Crews responded to the fire on the 3900 block of W. Metaline Avenue around 8:45 p.m. and found a fire on the outside of a home.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Michael Heffner with the KFD, the fire was put out in about 19 minutes and once the fire was under control the burned side boards were removed to make sure the fire had not spread into the home or attic.

No one was injured in the fire that was caused by smoldering vegetation outside of the home caused by a weed burning device used by the homeowner, according to Deputy Chief Heffner.

The home is reportedly still habitable.

In addition to the Kennewick Fire Department, the Pasco Fire Department, Benton County Fire District, Kennewick police and Benton PUD responded to the fire.
