Fire burns mobile home, displaces family of 5 in Finley

FINLEY, Wash. – An electrical fire in a mobile home displaced a family on Monday, according to Benton County Fire District 1.

Crews were sent to East 59th Avenue at around 7:23 p.m. for a report of a fire. Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the roof of a mobile home.

BCFD1 says the owner had put water on the roof to try and put it out. Crews made quick work and extinguished the fire shortly after their arrival.

Heat sensing equipment was used to ensure that the fire had not spread through the home and Benton PUD was called to disconnect power until the electrical issue can be fixed.

Six people, three adults and three children, were inside the home at the time of the fire. BCFD1 did not report any injuries.

The five family members that were displaced were offered a hotel room for the night by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and their community fund.

BCFD1 Public Information Officer Jenna Roberts wants to remind residents to never reenter a building that’s on fire and to get out and stay out until officials say it’s safe.
