UNITED STATES – The FDA has upgraded a recall of organic eggs sold at Costco to the highest risk level due to potential salmonella contamination. This means there is “a reasonable probability” that the recalled product “will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”
This recall follows the voluntary recall by New York-based Handsome Brook Farms of nearly 11,000 eggs about a month ago. The affected eggs are 24-count packages of organic pasture-raised eggs sold under the Kirkland Signature brand, with a use-by date of January 6, 2024.
There have been no reports of anyone getting sick so far. If you have these eggs, you are advised to throw them out or return them to the store for a refund.
