ISSAQUAH, Wash.- A 23-year-old man from Pasco is dead after a tree fell onto his car while driving on State Route 18.
Washington State Patrol says Ricardo Lopez Gaytan was driving eastbound on SR-18 when a tree fell, first hitting the barrier before splintering and hitting Gaytan’s car. The investigation says the car continued down the road before finally stopping on the right shoulder.
The tree blocked all lanes and stopped traffic for four hours.
Gaytan was found dead at the scene and the Pasco Police Department has notified the family.
WSP is still investigating the cause of the incident but say drugs and alcohol were not involved.
