Excessive heat on the way for most of Eastern Washington

BENTON COUNTY, Wash.-The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch for much of Eastern Washington starting July 5.

The watch starts at noon on Friday, July 5 and is expected to last until 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9.

Temperatures are expected to be dangerously hot with heat index values at or above 100 degrees, according to the NWS.

At those temperatures outdoor activities can be potentially dangerous and those spending time in the sun should use sunscreen, drink plenty of water and take necessary precautions.
