Evacuations cleared in Wapato

WAPATO, Wash.- UPDATED 7:02 P.M.

Yakima officials have cleared the the evacuation for the Wapato area. Residents can now return to the area.

UPDATED 6:19 P.M.

Yakima Valley Emergency Management has issued a Level 2 “Get Ready” evacuation advisory for residents in the Wapato area.

Officials advise residents to prepare family, pets, and move belonging to a car to ensure evacuation readiness.

Evacuation Zone:

– North Track Road and East Wapato Road from Northwest to North Track Road and Donald Wapato Road

– North Donald Wapato rd. and North Camus Road. Head north on North Camus Road to the Yakima River. East of the Yakima River.

-Southbound from the Yakima River to North Olden Way. North Olden Way and East Wapato Road heading west onto East Wapato Road and North Track Road

Officials have begun evacuations on Donald Road in Wapato for a wind-driven fire on Saturday.

According to Yakima County Fire District #5, the fire threatened nearby structures, motivating crews to evacuate the area. Officials have asked the public avoid the area.
