OLYMPIA, Wash. – Law enforcement agencies from across Washington participated in the ‘One More Stop’ campaign by holding an emphasis patrol on Sept. 27, honoring fallen Washington State Patrol Trooper Chris Gadd.
Total arrest and citation statistics from the state are still being tallied, however WSP alone made up more than 4,600 traffic stops that removed 68 impaired drivers from the road and issued 2,500 warnings.
“The event was a big success,” said WSP Chief John Batiste. ““I would like to thank the two other state and 46 local agencies that participated.”
Trooper Gadd, a Pasco native, was struck and killed by an impaired driver on I-5 north of Marysville on March 2. Prior to the crash, he had told his detachment members that he was going to meet them for break after ‘one more stop,’ thus the name of the campaign.
“We miss Chris terribly,” said Chief Batiste. “His family, including that beautiful little daughter, misses the father, the husband, the brother, and the son that was lost. He died keeping our roadways safe and we will remember him by doing the same.”
