KENNEWICK, Wash. – A travel trailer in Kennewick was damaged in a fire on Wednesday, according to a press release from the Kennewick Fire Department.
KFD says its crews were sent to the 3300 block of West 19th Avenue with Benton County Fire District 1 and the Pasco Fire Department at 6:57 p.m. for a reported residential structure fire.
Upon arrival, KFD crews found a travel trailer damaged by an electrical fire. The fire had already been extinguished by nearby neighbors who also alerted its occupants.
Crews worked to remove parts of the wall to make sure the fire had not extended into spaces within the wall. The occupants of the trailer were relocated to a nearby hotel.
No one was injured in the fire, per KFD.
KFD and the U.S. Fire Administration reminds RV owners to not overload electrical outlets and that using too many appliances at the same time can cause a fire. They also recommend having a portable fire extinguisher on board and within reach.
