FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash.-Franklin County voters decided several school district, commissioner and councilmember races, as well as two propositions, one from Franklin County Fire District #3 and another from Franklin County Public Hospital District #1 on Nov. 7.
The latest election results are available online through Franklin County. Here is where the two propositions stand as of election night.
Proposition 1 from Franklin County Fire District #3: Voters are currently rejecting the proposition by a 53.13 percent to 46.87 percent margin.
If passed Proposition 1 would authorize a six-year levy lid lift to fund emergency services. According to VoteWA, if passed the proposition would increase the property tax rate to $1.34 per $1,000 for 2024.
If approved the levy lid lift would provide funding for maintenance, staffing, training and equipment. According to VoteWA, Proposition 1 would also authorize annual levy rate increases of up to 6 percent above the previous year from 2025-2029.
Proposition 1 from Franklin County Hospital District District #1: The proposition is currently passing with 61.54 percent of the vote.
If passed the proposition would increase the level of property taxes collected to fund emergency and medical services.
According to VoteWA, Proposition 1 would increase the property tax rate to $0.40 per $1,000 of assessed value in 2023 and 2024 if passed.
