ZILLAH, Wash.-A Toppenish man is dead after a two-car crash in the eastbound lanes of I-82 between Toppenish and Zillah on June 11.
Washington State Patrol Troopers responded to the crash near milepost 52 just outside Zillah around 7:36 a.m.
According to the WSP, a 1994 Honda Accord was disabled on the right shoulder of the road when a Ford Explorer changed lanes and hit it.
Jorge Ochoa, 36, of Toppenish, died at the scene. His next-of-kin has been notified.
The driver who hit Ochoa, a 33-year-old Kennewick man was uninjured in the crash and the official cause is still under investigation, according to the WSP.
Eastbound lanes were closed between Exit 50 Toppenish/Buena and Exit 54 Zillah for several hours following the crash, but have since reopened according to the Department of Transportation.
