YAKIMA, Wash.-East Selah residents are invited to an informational event on Saturday, March. 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Selah Civic Center, regarding the Army’s ongoing PFAS response.

The Yakima Training Center (YTC) and U.S. Army Environmental Command will discuss the Rights of Entry documents needed for installation and maintenance of Point of Entry Treatment systems for residents affected by PFAS in their drinking water at the event.

According to the YTC, 16 POET systems, whole house filtration systems that filter and disinfect water entering a home, have been installed as of March. 8, with testing

A POET system will be on display at the informational event and subject matter experts will be available to answer questions about the treatment system, PFAS water sampling, and the Army’s PFAS response at YTC.

For a POET system to be installed, the homeowner must sign a right of entry agreement to allow the Army to install, maintain and sample well water, according to the YTC.

Representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will also be available at the event to explain how ROE agreements work and answer any questions or concerns residents may have.

According to the Army, about a dozen new East Selah residents will have the opportunity to review ROE agreements and sign them if they choose to do so at the informational event.
