Early morning house fire put out in Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash.-Fire crews responded to an early morning house fire on Tuesday, Nov. 7 on School Ave.

Walla Walla Fire Stations 1 and 2 were dispatched to the fire and Walla Walla County Fire District #4 also responded as part of a mutual aid agreement to the scene at 502 School Ave just before 1 a.m.

Once on scene firefighters reportedly saw smoke coming from the first floor of the home and from the vents in the attic.

After confirming that all residents were out of the house, fire crews worked on putting the fire out in the attic above a bathroom. According to Walla Walla Fire, the blaze was out around 1:17 a.m.

An investigation into the fire determined that the fire was started when a ceiling exhaust fan overheated.

No injuries were reported in the fire that caused an estimated $25,000 in damages according to the WWFD.
