Early morning fire in Zintel Canyon burns 3 acres

KENNEWICK, Wash. – A wildfire burned an estimated three acres of trees and brush in Zintel Canyon on Tue., Sept. 3, per a press release from the Kennewick Fire Department.

At around 3:08 a.m., KFD and Benton County Fire District 1 crews were sent to the area of 19th Court and Buntin Street for a report of a wildfire that was approximately a football field in size.

Crews had to spend a few minutes trying to find the fire which ended up in the southern area of Zintel Canyon moving at a slow pace.

Fire crews got the fire under control in just under a half hour, then stayed for another hour mopping up hot spots and preventing the fire from possibly rekindling.

KFD says no one was injured and the fire’s cause is under investigation.
