KENNEWICK, Wash. – According to Benton County Fire District 1, a fire started early Sunday morning after a driver crashed off of I-82 west of the Clearwater and Badger Road exit.
The driver reportedly started dozing off at the wheel and drifted. When the driver realized it, they tried to correct themselves and ended up sliding sideways off the road and down an embankment where the fire started.
BCFD1 crews found the car fully engulfed in flames. The fire was spreading to nearby brush and was threatening a building.
The fire was taken out quickly by BCFD1 and no one was injured. Washington State Patrol is investigating. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office also supported in the incident.
