KENNEWICK, Wash. – A fire burned a mobile home on the 4800 block of West Clearwater Avenue on May 7.
Kennewick firefighters responded to the fire shortly before 11 a.m. and found people trying to put the fire out with garden hoses.
Firefighters brought the fire under control in 11 minutes after making sure no one was still inside the mobile home.
The fire is believed to have started with the mobile home’s clothes dryer or venting system, according to the KFD. The damage has rendered the home “unlivable.”
The KFD and the U.S. Fire Administration reminds the community to have clothes dryers installed professionally, to not use a dryer without a lint filter, to clean lint filters after each cycle and to periodically check the dryer’s venting system.
